In this edition of Wilson Center NOW, we are joined byDistinguished FellowBlair Ruble, whodiscusses his latest book, “Proclaiming Presence from the Washington Stage.” The book illustrates how, for much of the twentieth century, DC theatre offered an alternative path to recognition for politically marginalized groups such as African-Americans and how a ”sleepy Southern town” became an international arts center in the 21st century.
